So you burn a quart of oil every 5k miles. So actually you go 10k miles on royal purple before changing out the remaining oil.

Well , If your not burning any oil and you add 1 quart oil after 5 ,000 miles wouldn't you have to much oil? My 11 v6 holds 6 quarts. If I add 1 more quart after 5k miles and don't burn a quart oil, then buy adding 1 more quart don't I now have 7 quarts.

I see. I didnt realize the filter held almost a quart of oil. The oil is great but its the filter your concerned with not lasting 10k miles so you change the filter out at 5k but basically oil gets changed at 10k. I do believe they make extended oil change filters but not really sure how long they really can go and stay clean. I change my oil and filter at same time which is 7,500 miles but I'm not using Royal Purple. I use Mobil 1 fully synthetic extended performance that has the gold cap. Lol

what you said is true. I was getting ready to change my oil and use a wix extended life filter and just go the whole 10k but im not spending that much on an oil change when im getting ready to sell my car :\ I did however change the filter again and add a quart. im back with regular penzoil for the moment so ill be going 3-5k

Well, that's cool. I actually never looked into the wix extended life filter. I also use Napa gold filter and not sure if Napa has a extended life filter. Being that Wix makes Napa Gold filters maybe wix makes an extended life Napa gold filter. That would be cool.

Motorcraft is the only oil filter that touches my car, as for oil, whichever synthetic is on sale at the time

So royal purple is rated to last 10k? Last change I swapped around 5500. I use the k&n filter as well.
