SCT tune question

I have a custom tune on the car now and got emailed new tunes, should I return to stock tune before I update the device? I have to have it preloaded for my mechanic on Monday for my cam install

Well I guess basically what I'm asking can I update the device while leaving the old tune on the car

Not sure about updating the device, yet it shouldn't matter if you have your current tune or an aftermarket tune on the unit once you do the updated firmware. Or are you talking about updating from one tune to another?

It's been awhile since I owned an SCT, but IIRC, it automatically uploads your stock tune after your current tune is deleted. Once that finishes, it uploads the newest file you select. Again, I believe this is how it goes. It's just an insurance if the newest file is corrupt or something...

On my SCT, I think there is always the option to "return car to stock form" in addition to the 3 custom tunes it holds?

I could be wrong though.

Ahhhh, I see what you're saying. I'm not too sure about that to be honest.

SCT tune question

Yes put it back to stock before updating. It should tell you that when your sct is hooked up to your computer. It will give a warning. If you don't it will erase your stock file.
