Need help!

So about a week ago my check engine light came on, I have the diablosport intune tuner and It told me that my car is running too lean, it went off after driving it a while but then I checked it again last night and the code is still on, I know running lean hurts the motor bad but does anyone know how to fix it or why It happened!?

Hmmm maybe the tune is the problem, the engine is not getting enough fuel.

+1

Are you using 87 with a 93 tune by chance?

Its most likely your air/fuel ratio if the problem is the lean gas. retune it and make sure you use the right grade your tune says.

Haha no I'm not stupid, I have had the same tune for at least a year now and only messed up that one time

Ok, I was by no means trying to insult you. Just covering the basics. I've known some to accidentally load up the wrong tune, and think they are on a different setting; we're all human. But have you noticed any detonation? Pinging sounds?

Pinging is usually the sound of detonation, but if you haven't noticed it, chances are its not doing it. It could sound like a diesel engine chugging along, or even like a loose piece of metal banging around in the engine bay. Its hard to explain what it sounds like, you'd have to google it. But like I said, if you haven't noticed a difference in sound from the engine bay its probably not doing it.

Ok and if I did notice it, what would that mean the pinging sound? And what would it cause?

Here is a link to a wiki page on detonation.

Did you pull any plugs? If your running lean the plugs will usually tell you. If the light went off you might have had some bad gas.

I didn't try that. What would I look for on the plugs to tell?

We'll if it is really bad they will be burnt/melted. A lean engine will run really hot and if left unaddressed will cause catastrophic damage. They may have white deposits on them and the ceramic could be cracked as well. If your light is no longer on or comes on from time to time you could have a bad O2 sensor. Good luck.

Need help!

I've seen a intake manifold gasket leaking setting off a lean code, mass air flow sensor could set it off or as simple as a vacuum line loose of not installed correctly.
