Exhaust question (Not the same as usual ones)

So I'm working on a cutout side exhaust system for my car. All my piping and everything is currently 2 1/2 inches to make it easier to work with my current exhaust there it branches off. I was just given a set of 3" inlet/outlet glass packs that I would like to use on this project. My question is, after stepping up to 3" for the glass packs would it be wiser to leave it 3" for simplicity or bring it back down to 2.5 on out to the side tips.

You mean bring it up a half inch to 3" then leave it until the tip?
