Brake Rotors and Pads

I was looking to get an upgrade on rotors and pads. Was looking for a little advise. I was looking at a few and was curious as to best bang for buck.

Powerslot 2005-2010 Mustang GT Front Rotors 126.61086SR (05-10 GT) - Free Shipping

had a friend recommend these from Centric

Centric Parts Disc Brake Rotor 120.61086CRY : Amazon.com : Automotive

also was looking at these

Brembo Sport Slotted Rotors - Best Prices on Brembo Slotted Brake Rotors for Cars, Trucks & SUVs

for the pads I was looking at Hawk Performance Hawk HPS Mustang Front Brake Pads HB484F.670 (05-14 GT, V6) - Free Shipping

Any advise would be nice, I am running a 07 GT

Hey,

Looking at the links you provided, it seems you have your head in the right place.

I have never heard of the brand you're looking at on amazon, so I cannot offer much insight on those, but they appear to be a legitimate factory replacement rotor.

The Brembo rotors are most likely the nicest rotors on the market. For years they have been the industry leader in brake technology and I am sure they would do you very well. However, at that price I don't know if they are the best bang for your buck. You may feel a difference over factory, but the difference most likely will not be worth the extra cost compared to the PowerSlot.

PowerSlot has also been around for quite sometime and they make very reputable rotors as well. This rotor is going to offer just about the same amount of "bite," cooling, and durability as the Brembo. However, it's slightly less expensive and in my opinion the best bang for your buck.

As far as the pads go, Hawks are certainly quality, and at their price point they are also a great bang for their buck. I had a set of the exact hawks you are looking at on my 06 and was very pleased, there was a noticeable difference compared to factory.

Keep in mind if you see a cheaper price on a competitor's site we will match it, and we do offer forum members a 6% discount.

I hope this helps, and by all means if you have any questions feel free to get in touch with myself or give our customer service team a call. Good Luck!

-Dan

I have the same rotors on my 07 GT/CS along with Hawk HPS with no issues after 30k on them. Great stopping and no brake dust

This is just me... But I don't trust it... Made in China. I'll keep my stock brakes...

I'm using the power slot package on my 05 GT with ceramic pads and so far they have been fine for the five hundred miles since install. They wore in nice and even; there is no pull to either side or any noises that shouldn't be there. I had a cracked rotor on the drivers side rear from a seized caliper and ended up buying all new rotors and pads for all corners and remanufactured calipers just to budget-overhaul the dying brakes and it's a noticeable improvement. Not that it's an amazing set of racing parts but for daily spirited driving it's a nice feeling and a solid bang for your buck. For that extra edge perhaps you may want to look into the stainless steel lines too.

I'd say if you're just looking for a slight improvement over factory then this is a good choice if you aren't going to stand on the brakes corner after corner around a track. If you're still worried about the integrity of the hardware check to see if there is an implied warranty.

I installed the power stop brakes and pads from AM. Even though they are from China I couldn't pass up the price. Well you get what you pay for. The rotors are fine and look good and the rear pads seem to be fine. However the spring clips on the front pads keep coming off and I am considering buying new Hawk pads because at a minimum, $350 for just rotors is a good price anyway you look at it. I am concerned about the clips that come off as the pad has no way to retract without and I am afraid that it may damage or prematurely wear out my rotors.

You should talk to AM about this....they will fix you up for sure....curious though..how did you realize the clips were coming off? Regular inspection, brake performance failure, noise?
I purchased but haven't installed as yet. I called AM about this issue and they said it shouldn't be a problem..if it is they would fix me up...maybe just a faulty part and an exchange will set things right.

Been looking at the Hawks myself...seem to be as many complaints on the spring issue as with this kit.

I found one of the clips sitting on my driveway not on the brake pad.
