A 15 x 8 is the widest wheel you can you put on the rear without modifying the rear sway bar brackets and it's location. The tire width will depend on the backspacing and offset of the wheel to allow for clearance of the shocks.

Then you must be mistaken and are running a 17x10 since a 15x10 requires modifying the sway bar brackets. Its a well known fact on these cars. If you bought the car like it is, they were modified before by the previous owner.

Also, a 305 may not fit if your back spacing isn't far enough out.

I think you're mistaken. You can run a 10 with 48 offset no problem. Hence why American muscle sells 18x10 +45-48 rear offsets. You can shove a lot of meat under our cars. I know a guy running 18x11 +22 all around with a 305 out back and 275 up front. I have a 18x9.5 275/40 all around. Fits just fine.

I didn't say an 18 wouldn't fit, I said 15...

The wheel diameter is too small to fit over the sway bar bracket.

You should be good to run a 305 or maybe even a 315 depending on tire manufacturer. Some of them narrow and some wider. Nittos tend to run narrow than others so a 305 nitto may only be a 10 or 10.5 inch tire whereas a 305 in Hankook could be an 11. Most of them have the tire specs on their websites so it's best to check there to wheel fitment recommendations. What you can fit on a wheel and what works best aren't always the same thing.

Nitto NT05R

P305/45R18 LL Tread Depth - 6.3 Tire Height - 28.90 Overall Width (in)- 12.05 Wheel sizes recommended. 9.5-(10.0)-11.5
