Shaker 500

I'm swapping out my audio system in my 07 gt coupe. I have the shaker 500 system and I am completely gutting it. My question is, should I try to sell the stock system on here or trade them into the stereo store to try to get a few bucks? The system is not out of my car yet so I cannot take pictures or post in the classifieds yet but i wanted to get some input. Thanks!

I can't imagine the car stereo place would want it, doesn't hurt to ask. Take pics of it in the car to show its functioning and not screwed up.

I would just try to sell it. Im sure someone with a basic setup may want to upgrade keeping a factory look. X2 on pictures before taking it out

I don't even know what kind of price would be a good price. I'll take pictures before I remove everything. Right now it's about 10 degrees outside so I'm not removing anything quite yet

Are you doing the install yourself?

I'm curious as to what set up you have in mind for a complete overhaul. Have it all in mind at this point?

Yes I will be doing the install by myself. Probably over the course of the next month and a half because I don't have much free time. Probably rip off all the panels one week. Then work from there.

I am still in the process if looking for a good set up. I have a few ideas but nothing is final yet. I want to keep the stock grills so I need to find things that fit in the openings available. I have a sealed box in the trunk with 2 10" Polk subwoofers and am looking to get 2 8" woofers, 4 - 6.5" jl speakers, and 2 tweeters. I am still picking out the perfect models

JL and Polk should be nice, and with all the factory speaker locations in our cars you could really build a solid sound. I'm thinking of replacing the 6x9s in the doors and the tweeters to compliment my new head unit. If you are still looking for a double din I would give a nod to the Pioneer AVH-X series, I've been pleased with mine since install.

Thanks for the head unit advise! That's always the hardest part to get right

Don't just take my advice though, this was my first head unit purchase. I could never justify the prices of touch screens when they first came out but the technology is more common now so I jumped on a deal I saw on Crutchfield and I'm glad I finally did! Just having my phone connected to my car in a way more than just an aux cable is great and as a bonus NEVER runs out of battery!

Wait, are they 6x8 or 6x9? I may be thinking of the deck speakers in my old car.

I'm almost 100% sure they are 6x8. I'm trying to figure out how to mount a tweeter too because I think the stock ones aren't component speakers and just have the tweeter on the speaker

They are 5x7 (6x8) but people have made minor adjustments to make 6x9 fit. I've figured out what I'm getting (unless something better comes up)

2 front 2 rear - alpine spr69 - type R 6x9 coaxial speakers (couldn't find a good set of components in that size that isn't $500 a pair)

Keeping factory door subwoofers

JL audio xd600/6 - 600watt 6 channel amp - will power 100 watts to each (2 front 2 rear and 2 door subs)

Haven't decided on either the kenwood DDX471HD or the pioneer SPH-DA110 head unit. Both are touch screens and have Bluetooth. I don't want gps and both actually suit my needs nicely.

In the installation process I will also be dynamatting the whole car for like $300 (not just dynamatting the speakers)

Does anyone have any input on the head unit or have any good speaker alternatives I should look at? I think I'm going to be very content with my (all together) 1150 watt RMS setup (I have two 275 watt rms subs in the trunk too)

Sounds like a real solid system, the full dynamatting should be a night and day difference. I'd like to see some pics of the process.

Definitely! I'll take before after and during pictures/videos. This process will not start for roughly a month. Have to order the parts, and wait for warmer weather or one of my friends to offer up their garage for a weekend haha
