I have a 2007 gt 5speed manual its stock I took it to the track today and it giving me problems! Wen im in second gear and it gets to about 5000 rpms wayy before I would shift it feels like it kills the power and I look stupid ha its done it 4 times already and I can't get a good run time! Amy ideas?

Im thinking the culprit could be a faulty injector. Sounds like not enough fuel is being added to the air at high rpms. You may not notice the problem during normal driving since you dont reach those high revs on street roads. Check and replace your fuel filter, check air filter since it could be bottlenecking the air flow. If that doesnt work you will need to clean your fuel system and get injectors serviced or replaced. Hope this helps.

Does it do anything when you put the engine under a load?

Yes its strange that it lets you redline in first but hold back on second. Does it do this on gears after second as well? Im guessing whats happening is the engine is going into a safe mode of sorts to prevent you from damaging it. This could also be a tune related scenario. Did the previous or you put a tune on the car? If its no to all the above then you would have to do all the preliminary checks we suggested and yes COPS is a something you should look into as well. If you could take a to a dearlership or Mustang speed shop im sure the mechanica there could narrow it down for ya and save you alot of money trying to individually diagnose and replace these parts.

Reason I think it is cops is the load on the engine is greater after first gear. I'm no expert but that's what mine did. Put it in 5th at about 30 to 35 mph going up a hill and floor it. Then let me know what it does

Yea def sounds like a cylinder misfire now weather it is an injector or plug & coil and if its 1 or many, u can use a scan tool and check mode 6 data and view misfire counts but most cheaper scan tools cant view that, snap on scanner or ids at dealerships can though for sure

I'm thinking it would be just one. When one of mine went bad you could barely tell but when multiple when bad you could barely drive the car

It drives normal but wen Im pushing it shift real hard to make the tires chirp it just feels like I let off the gas completely and wen I feather the gas pedal it will barely respond for a sec or 2 then its good till the next time I shift but it won't do any of that wen I granny shift

I agree it coudl be a coil. Injector also. If it runs too lean it will cut causing your issue. It is a saftey measure. Don't keep trying until you figure it out.

When you change the coils you want to go with OEM. Nothing else seems to be nearly as good.

Sorry to hear that, you should definetly take it to get diagnosed. Not on my stang, but on my old STi I had a similar problem and that was s ROYAL PITA to get it right! It came dowm to whem I installed the new spark plugs I didnt check the gap. We went back to basics verifyng everything till we got to the spark plugs and when we checked the gaps it was way off. Got em right and 2 years later till the day I traded her no problem. Hope this helps.
