Need help choosing cams!

Need help choosing cams! Im in Canada and its between:
-frpp hot rod cams
-comp thumpr cams
-brenspeed detroit rockers

Im looking for a lopey idle, but not a "tin can" sound. The exhaust set up is stock manifolds, off-road H pipe and borla stingers. As mentioned before, im in Canada and I can get comp cams here for $699, frpp for $749 and detroit rockers id have to order from Brenspeed in the states for $799. Any help is appreciated!

Hey,

Sounds like a nice build you have going, and cams will certainly take it to a new level.

I had the Hot Rod cams on my 06 and absolutely loved them. They delivered the true muscle car sound in my opinion. Furthermore, they also gave me 30RWHP. All the choices you listed are quality and will give you a great sound and power, but my personal suggestion is the Hot Rod cams.

You also may want to consider getting at least a set of shorty headers. You will really see much more sound and power benefits by improving the flow of the exhaust at that point.

I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, feel free to reach back out to myself, or get in touch with our customer service department. Good luck!

-Dan

I like my FRPP's but I bought the car with them and all the other FRPP stuff so no idea what it was like stock. I did have a '08 Bullitt with only a Bama race tune and I think it had just as good if not better low end then my 2010 does now with all the mods but the 2010 has a lot more top end.

I am around 340 rwhp with the cams, intake, LT's, CAI

Do the frpp hot rod cams have a "tinny" sound to them? Or is it still a low rumble?

Mine is a low rumble, reminds me a lot of a '70 428 CJ. BUT a lot of that will depend on your X pipe and mufflers. Couldn't say what it sounds like with stock exhaust. I have the BBK X pipe and flowmaster mufflers.

Aren't you running a turbo setup? If you do you need to throw all those cams choices away... You're going to need a custom grind or turbo grind cam. Any of those cams you choose above would make you lose power because your turbo system runs off of your exhaust.

Doesn't really matter to me! The new set up is predicted to run about 800-825 with stock cams so a little loss in horsepower isnt a big deal to me haha! Especially because i still have to upgrade the tranny to hand that power. Probably just lower the boost a bit! And apparently the brenspeed detroit rockers and hot rod cams have been paired with turbo set ups before!

Its all good! The 303 series cams are good. The b303, f303 and e303 are widely debated!
