Anyone know the cost?

I plan on driving my car for a very long time, enough to justify spending a lot of money on my motor. 450bhp is cool, but 650bhp has a better ring to it. Starting with a forged block, I know I would need a new clutch and forged rotating assembly. Including a S/C, how much money would you tink it would cost? It really doesn't seem that expensive. I would be surprised to spend more than 15k.

Really, to do a full, proper, said build the right way, its not as cheap as you think. I just did a build and know all these prices pretty close to what they run with shipping and such. I'm list some stuff off to consider because its not just engine and blower when you get past 600 hp.

-engine $5000
-80 lb injectors $450
-fuel pumps (gt500) $800
-spark plugs (1 step colder) $150
-new bigger maf sensor $300
-diablo mafia $250
-new 1 piece driveshaft $900
-clutch $450
-flywheel $400
-slave cylinder $150
-new tr6060/Magnum XL trans $5000(stock trans will last about 1/2 launches on 600 hp/tq if it hooks up)
-good blower to make that power like kb/whipple $6000-7000 (closer to 7 after pulleys/porting if necessary)
-new gauges and gauge pod (s) $300
-a good dyno tune with about 4-5 pulls $800

So as you can see, its more to the tune of $21,925 and thats is there is no snags or needed little hardware to do anything and thats also if you're very handy and do all the work yourself! Without upgraded fuel, mass air flow stuff, spark and such, the car won't make the 650. Not only fo you need a strong enough engine/trans, you need all the supporting mods to assist the blower to make the power. Oh and if you want to even try to hook up, a new set of drag r adials and rims is about $600 if you're lucky.

You gotta think, 650 hp doesnt sound like nuch because we hear the new gt500 has 662, but you have to remember, thats at the flywheel. After drivetrain loss, its about 540 to the tires. 650 at the tires is about 750/800 at the flywheel. Thats biiiiiig horsepower. Strip some weight off the car. If you can get it down to 2800 lbs thats about 9's in the 1/4.
