3V Swap

Hey guys I've got a 2008 Pony Package V6 automatic. Other than the engine itself, engine harness, PCM, driveshaft, and 8.8" rear axle. What else will I need to complete a 3V swap?

3V Swap

What's your spring/shock/strut set up? The weight of the V8 will be different so you will have to adjust for that.

I believe the pony package has the same as the GT in that regard.

Yeah it's got the Pony Package suspension, but I've got Koni shocks and struts and SR springs and Eibach camber bolts and a J&M steel adjustable panhard bar in my garage right now

If you are going to swap an engine, you should start by not swapping in an engine that basically sucks.

Other than a coyote or a GT500 engine, the 3V is my only option.

Don't waste your money. Previous supercharged 3v owner here. You can get a 5.0 motor for around 6k

Cause with those naturally aspirated mods I figure it'd be about 330-340rwhp so a 75-100 shot would be good. Gotta keep it at 450rwhp or under

Not a bad plan, but here's another suggestion/question. Why not trade your V6 in for a GT?

Honestly the 3v is not a bad motor. Just not the best setup ford has came out with. I had fun with mine, just started getting bad blow by after all my abuse I was throwing at it.

He means the rings failing. Doing the v8 swap is never worth it unless it's a really clean 4 banger Fox and you have a complete donor car. You will spend double your planned budget btw... been there. It sucks but get your 6er paid down and trade it in or sell it and get a v8.

I've had my 3v 4.6 for 8 months and so far I have no complaints with it. However, it is still stock (with only a custom tune) and I've only DD'ed it with spirited driving.

The only thing I wish it had was the amazing sound (just my opinion) of the Coyote.

I hate how the coyotes sound. I love my car but they do not sound like a mustang

Yeah I was about to say the 4.6 3V is one of the nastiest sounding motors out there

Interesting. The only Mustangs I've really took the time to 'get to know' are the 2v and 3v 4.6's and the Coyote. Any other motors I wouldn't be able to recognize, but I've only just gotten into cars since the last year or two.

I definitely like it. Rap may tell you it's the worst sounding.

3V Swap

Will I need a PCM off of a GT with an automatic or will I be ok if it was off a manual car? Since I'll never use the stock tune
