The 2V's are good for 300k+ even after being in a police car for the first 1/3 of their life... And then a taxi cab after that!
The 05 3V has cam phasers that the 2V doesn't have, and I think that is the only difference aside from the head with the extra valve. Those phasers can cause a knocking noise, I understand, but it seems like something that you'd do when it came time to replace the timing chains/tensioners anyway.
Like you said, the cars are turning ten. You can expect all of the problems that you might encounter with any car that age.
