Can someone tell me if I need an actual hand held tuner if I plan on getting dyno tun

I'm putting a super charger on my 07 GT and plan to get dyno tuned. The first place I contacted indicated I would need a tuner. Is that true? Or do I need to continue my search for a Dyno shop? My car already had a tune when I bought it from the dealer. Does it need to be flashed back to stock before doing anything else? Thanks in advance

You will need a tuner for a dyno tune. I know some tuners can get your stock tune for you but not sure how common that is.

What s/c are you buying, some s/c kits include a tuner, I know procharger include one. Roush will calibrate your pcm for you. But Yes, if you are getting a dyno tune, you NEED a tuner

Buying a used kenne bell from a friend of a friend. The kit is supposed to be complete, but never thought to ask about a tuner. Thanks for the info!

Some places will sell you a tuner with the tune...others will require a tuner. Since it sounds like you have to provide the tuner, I would ask what kind of tuner they require (sct3 or sct4x) and find one used and unmarried.

X3 or 4 shouldn't matter. As a matter if fact I got an old xcalibrator 2 (pre x3 or 4) for 150 used. The tuner wrote it no problem. I actually called SCT before I bought the tuner to make sure it was still a usable tuner. Make sure when you get the kit from the guy you get some colder spark plugs. You may want to try to find an inventory sheet from kenne bell, that way you can verify that you are in fact getting a complete kit. Also I'm not positive, but I think kenne bell also gives you a tune for the blower when you buy from them. Possibly a tuner as well to load the tune into your vehicle.

They tune with Diablo, so I'll be getting one of their units.

I called kenne bell to make sure the unit would work on my car since the car it came from was a manual and I have an automatic. They said everything is the same, I just need a different tune. I also have LT headers, o/r mid pipe, high flow cats and flow master outlaws, so they(KB) recommended a dyno tune.

Does the diablo come with the kit if you buy it new? If so I would try to get the guy to give it to you since your buying everything else. Is he including boost a pump and injectors? Also the brand of tuner makes no difference, it's just a tool to communicate with the computer. Now the tune that your tuner loads on it, that's what is going to make all the difference. Your on the right track having it dyno tuned with your additional mods. Just make sure you find someone reputable to tune it. Should be lots of fun! Post up pictures and dyno results when your done.

The tuner uses diablo, not sure what kenne bell uses. It's the mammoth 2.8. He has the KB boost a pump, 39# injectors, intercooler, blower with 3 different boost pullies, larger TB, intake with filter and the kenne bell dual calibration unit. This has been in the works for 2 months, haven't been able to get together to pick it up. He lives 3 hours away and works a different schedule than I do.
