Plasti-dip on racing stripes?

When i bought my mustang a year ago, the racing stripes that the previous owner had on the hood were like cracked. i've been wanting to get the racing stripes painted on, but i just dont have the money for it. So i was wondering if plasti-dipping over a little bit of the stripes would be okay? o:

By the way, im new to this whole forum stuff haha, soooooooo yeah!

anything will help! thanks!

Do you have a picture of the stripes? I imagine it would.be hard to get the plasti dip to match well enough

I don't think you'd be able to plastidip certain areas of the stripe. You'd most likely have to plastidip the entire stripe if you want it to look uniform and halfway decent.

Give it a shot and let us know the outcome. For $6, you won't be losing much if you don't like it.

You may want to remove those rather than just going over the top of them. (depending on how big of a perfectionist you are) you can plasti dip new stripes. The cracks will be visible as low points in the plasti dip. It will still look better than it does now though.

I tried to do this 2 or so years ago with my vinyl stripes. Got about a 1/3 of the way done and didn't like the way they turned out so I peeled it off. Hard to get the crisp edge and to get it to dry without some bubbling... I paid a friend to remove the old vinyl and paint the stripes on...

Yeah boink, but it's just the first part in front of my hood scoop. That's the only part I wanted to fix (make look normal again) lol

Give it a shot and if you mess it up, just peel it off.
