Pypes muffle delete

Just curious for anyone out there, does anyone have these, I've heard that the installation is a pain in the rear, but it sounds like it's only a chance of that. Any input would be great

I did the installation on my 2010
When I had it in under an hour without a jack or ramps. I didn't like the sound and eventually went to the flow master super 10.

Did you have any trouble with the hangers? I hear that's a huge problem with them

Sweet, I'm thinking about getting them this month. When I bought the car, it came with the jba axle backs and they sound horrible, they drone and they are really quiet, more quiet than stock

I didn't really like the pype bombs. It's just a muffler delete and that's way too much money for a muffler delete. And they sounded bad I thought. Chdck out the flow master 10 series on YouTube.

Slp loudmouths here too. Real pleased. I didn't have any trouble with the slp hangers. Getting the driver side stock muffler was a bit of a pain though.

God damn it... I can't decide on SLP or Pypes either. The price point is tempting, but I know of the problems during installation with the Pypes. I don't mean to hijack, but anybody have any experience with the MBRP muffler deletes? Should be better quality.

Pypes muffle delete

Stupid question but what are "muffler delete" pipes in terms of what is contained within them?

Are they just an empty pipe, like the name suggests? Seems like a pretty high price tag for that compared to similar designed bullet style mufflers.

Am I missing something? :p

Just an empty pipe, but they're bent a certain way so it doesn't bump anything and different sizes

OK thank you for clearing that up for me. So the slp loudmouth are just empty pipes? I also thought be pype bombs were resonator pipes?

I have the pypes pype bomb...I absolutely love the way they sound and they turn heads wherever I go...haven't heard a negative word on the street either, not even from my mom, she loves them too. I had no problems with the hangers, the install I did myself with my cousin, just propped the rear up on jack stands. The only issue you run into is when you remove the stock mufflers, there is a nub on the rear of the mid pipe that they lock into. This nub needs to be ground down before installing the pypes. It's gone in 5-10 secs with a grinder though so it's really a non issue and I knew about before hand. Pype bombs for life, yo.

I had Flowmaster American Thunder axle-backs on my '05 GT that sounded good w/ the stock tune but after a BAMA tune they sounded too much like stock mufflers. Comparing reviews I decided on the Pypes Pype Bombs muffler delete from AM. Of the 100 or so reviews on the AM site only a couple were negative... and that was due to poor fitment (driver side). So, for around $310 what could go wrong.

The passenger side install was a breeze. Ground the nubs per instructions, clamps were good quality, fit like a champ. Driver side not so much. The hanger rods from the muffler wouldn't line up w/ the factory rubber hanger off the chassis. One rod made it through the rubber by 1/4", the other was barely in. The passenger side had a uniform 3/4" stickout w/ each rod, satisfactory. The driver side rods were not parallel to the center line of the muffler either, they were angled off center up to about 30 degrees, not satisfactory.

Talked to Pypes tech about this issue, they wanted pictures at first but later changed and went on about early Mustang poor quality/ fits, recommended loosening mid-pipe clamps and try re-aligning. No way I could make up that amount w/ the short (about 3-1/2") mid-pipe clamps. I ended up bending the rods (against their no bend/ no return policy) as I had one day to get this done. After significant bending anchored in a vise there's a minimum stick out from the rubber and the looks at rear valance are close enough for average eyeball. To finish it right I'll end up cutting the rods, aligning the rods parallel to the CL, tacking and TIG welding off the vehicle. Best as I can figure the rods weren't correct for that side or jigged wrong. How can you ace one side and miss by a mile on the other side?

Otherwise, the sound is good, no drone or popping. Mash the throttle and it makes all the right sounds, the way the S197 oughta sound.
