love my stock exhaust on 06 gt

I spent a long time trying to find a good axel back because everyone i would meet would say "man you need to at least get an axel back" but I've always really liked my stock sound but as time has gone I feel like the mufflers and exhaust have "broken in" and it sounds really nice to me now, much deeper and louder than before and pretty much got the perfect classic muscle tone IMO.

Mines an automatic and even in idle it has a nice deep rumble and now that the weather is getting cooler it sounds even better to me

I know they say you should just do what you want to your car, but it gets annoying when every single person tell you that you should get an axel back, how many times are you gonna say "nah, I like it the way it is..."

but now the way it sounds last week some guy asked me "nice ride man, is that a borla exhaust you have on it?" and i said nope, just stock! then he says "oh, you should get a catback exhaust system it would sound even better" *facepalms*

I was looking at getting a 2012 GT last year used from a dodge dealership but I got so pissed how the lady was like "you need to get more income" as if it's just so easy and as if I didn't go through hell for what I have now, so I've decided I'm just gonna keep my car because it has been a God to me.

If you like the sound of the stock exhaust, don't let anyone convince you to change it.

The only advice I could give would be to post this in the V6 forums as you'll have a better audience.

"Broken in" you can't brake in stock mufflers, stock mufflers have one purpose only and that's to muffle "silence" or keep the exhaust tone low" * facepant

Something to consider would be a aftermarket mid pipe. I've heard a few mustangs with stock mufflers sounds pretty darn good with just a x or h pipe.

Rumor on the street is that mustangs with manual transmissions came with a more aggressive sounding muffler. I know this is true for the new edges, not sure about the S197s. Maybe check CL and see if you can pick some of those up if you aren't completely satisfied.

its not about breaking in but more so that as they get older and wear more they don't muffle as much as when they are new hence you get a nicer tone without going OOT loud.

I looked OR/Hpipes they sound nice but much louder than my taste, honestly I can't be happier with what I got right now as far as exhaust goes

I like the stock sound too, all it needs now is to add cams to get the lope.

Don't worry about what others say. I love the sound of the standard exhaust on my '06 GT. Perfect balance between aggression and comfort. The engineers at Ford aren't idiots (most of the time), and they spent a lot of effort to get it right.

I also liked the stock exhaust on my 10 GT. Sounded great on and off it.

But I love the sound of my V8 over my old V6. 8 cylinders just has so many more diverse 'sounds' at different operating ranges. I'm hoping long tubes will make those sounds more audible for cruising. And of course I wouldn't mind the additional attention time to time.

I liked mine stock too, just like you...thought it sounded nice, just like you. Then I listened as my friend drove by so I could hear it...realized I was delusional, just like you!! Pypes Pype Bomb for life!! Now it sounds like a car is supposed to. Dude, switch out the lame stock mufflers, they suck.
