Did a BBK catted X on my buddies 06 with him today. The install went smooth and we followed the directions but there is a definite metallic ticking under load now. The flanges going up to the headers are the "ball and socket" type that don't even require a gasket. Since we followed the tightening procedure to a T I highly doubt the leak is coming from there.
Since it is a 3 piece exhaust design there are 4 clamps in total

I faintly remember hearing once that standard protocol for exhaust clamps was to tighten them when the exhaust is cold, drive the car for 50 miles, and then re-tighten, which we didn't do. Is this accurate? Either way, I suspect the clamps are the culprit
My friend suggested that the pipe is stainless steel and would transfer engine sounds better than the stock mid pipe would. Could just be a natural sound that comes along with aftermarket exhaust?
What do you guys think?
Oh yeah, one more thing. What's up with the 06 having 100x nicer exhaust hangers than my 09? When did that change take place and why?
