anyone have the raxiom smoked tail lights on their 05-09?

I ordered mine and they will come Thursday. (The ones that look like stock tail lights but smoked). Was wondering how much light do they extinguish through the smoked lenses? Hoping it's still visible and won't get pulled over and I really rather keep the incandescent bulbs don't want to have to hey LED tail lights.

Hey op-That's a good question and if you're looking to get an idea of how they're going to look on your Mustang check out our Customer Submitted Images! They're definitely not dark to the point where you're going to attract unwanted attention either! Let me know if you have any questions and I hope this helps!

They are not DOT approved. I got pulled over twice, no ticket, just a warning and ended up replacing them. It depends on the local cops being jackasses or not. Very few aftermarket taillight are DOT approved. If you want black out or smoked, you'll have to go LED if you want DOT. They don't really mention the non DOT approval on their websites, they act like you should already know this.

My taillights aren't DOT approved either. Haven't had any problems on VA.

Yeah it's a crap shoot. I don't think most people have a problem. I see a lot around here, but if they want to mess with you, they can.

They didn't measure lumens, they just said they weren't DOT. It sucks, I hate worthless motorcycle cops, they only exist to issue tickets and for funeral processions. I ended up getting LEDs, before the new 13-14 style came out. I'd love to have those, but $400 buys performance goodies.
You would probably be ok, but I know I was pissed when I got pulled per and told they weren't legal. It's better to know up front. It's like window tints, some drive around forever with limo black windows and others get nailed with 5% over legal.
