Yea. They have a special CARB EO # on them. These are always shorty headers. You are not going to find any CARB legal Longtube headers. Most companies that sell headers will state directly if they are 50 state legal, or will post the CARB EO # in the product description.

Why is that by the way? I figure if your longtubes are hooked up to a mid pipe with a decent set of cats the pollution difference would be pretty small?

Exactly lol.

California is retarded. You could have 20 cats on the car, but if you have longtubes you instantly fail.

My friend knows the smog referee of the area, so he gets all the weird/modified cars that other shops just don't want to deal with. Once they got a Corvette Z06 (7.0L motor), twin turbod, completely straight piped. It had emissions like a hybrid. But it still failed because the parts were not "legal".

It is the most retarded thing ever.

The laws in California are written by morons that don't have a clue about cars or bikes. I have JBA long tubes and FRPP cams and still get good emissions and 23 mpg. But in California, that doesn't matter. Some law maker decided long ago that certain parts are a no no and that's how it is. I live in Arizona now and have my car registered here so it's not a big deal anymore.
