you just have to pull really hard, it's actually easier when they are warm

You're just removing it to paint it correct? Because the reflector is what the projectors mount to.

Are you using the screw in projector style? Or you are going to cut your reflector bowls?

Yes, when I did mine I pull them off when they were warm, if you have a heat gun warm them up and then just pull them, they are just pressed in.

I just painted mine while it was still in the headlight. Just taped up what I didn't want to get painted.

You should post some pics when you are done, I like the output of the projectors I have, they look good from an angle but from the front they kind of look small, they remind me of a shark's eyes

IIRC, Morimoto came out with projectors that literally just bolt into specific housings and I think the 05-09 lights are one of them. Maybe not... or you can just have HIDGUY do it for you but that's like $500. Honestly I don't get the HID craze. I fell for it myself but there are halogens out there that are damn close to as bright as an OEM HID and brighter than 75% of the aftermarket kits out there because said kits are garbage Chinese $30 kits or 6K+ or both. IMO, just throw a pair of OSRAM offroad bulbs in there and call it good. They'll be over 2,000 lumens which is about 75% as bright as a 4300K HID and brighter than a 6K HID.

I had retrofitted morimoto minis and 6k morimotos in my 2012 cummins. They were an awesome setup and didn't blind people because they were in an actual hid housing.

You did it correctly. Thank you, you are a rare bird apparently... For everyone like you there are 4 ******bags running a $30 DDM kit in stock reflector housings.

There are a ton of youtube videos on how to bake open headlights and convert them. I still say its complete overkill. Those who have had a correctly setup quality halogen headlight will concur. There are halogen bulbs out there that are damn hear as bright as a HID with none of the expense of converting or having to deal with projectors or ballasts or anything.

I agree with that to some extent. But the light isn't as focused and clear as a good quality set of projectors and a quality hid setup. You can also choose different colors such as if you lived in an area that rains 24/7 and is foggy you could choose 3000k for the yellow as it's the best for those conditions.

I put Nokya Hyper Yellow fogs in my 98 just for that reason. Yeah they are coated yellow so the lumens are down, bug fogs don't need to be omfg bright. They were still pretty bright...

Yes the HIDs do focus a nice cutoff beam and are super bright... but I have not ever had an instance where I could not see just fine with a good halogen and that includes on a back country road at night in a SN95 car with 0 street lights and the moon hidden behind the clouds. That was with my HIR hi beams in my old 98 I just sold. I had HIDs in the projectors (hi beams were separate) but had I kept the car I probably would have pulled the HIDs out and put HIRs in the projectors too.

I've tried the nokya lights. Mine always burned out in about 4 months. Quality was the issue I think because my truck was new and my friend has the same problem with the purple ones they sell

Hmmm, they were fine 6 months later for me but I hardly ever turned them on. Only when I needed to. One could always just use a regular OEM fog bulb which will be the normal yellowish color and do just fine with that.

Or go with a yellow LED fog... I do NOT recommend putting a HID in a foglight even if you retrofit. The cutoff on a retrofitted one would be too damn low to be of any use and in a reflector housing you are going to be that guy who blinds everyone just like HIDs in reflector headlights.

I had the whitish ones in my low beams and they were the ones that always burned out. I never had the fogs
