Did your frame take any damage? If not then you might be okay

Depends on your options and year. Check the kelly blue book value. Looks like a lot of suspension damage besides the obvious body work and paint. It might be close.

I don't see what the big deal is. I'm sure someone has had a similar collision and he is just wanting some feedback. And I would bet there are body shop technicians on this forum.

Did the airbags deploy? If so the car is probably totaled, they are very expensive to replace, especially the one on the passenger side (whole dash needs replacing)

KBB puts the value ( my zip code) at 6-9 grand.

You guys don't think that could be fixed for 6000? I guess we really can't see the underside of the car but from what I see at the top I bet it could. The frame, obviously, being the deciding factor.

At any rate if I was in your case I would hope it was deemed a total loss. I'd put that cash towards a 2011 gt.

If I were you I'd hope its a total loss and put the cash towards a 2011. Main reasons being that its now got that on the carfax and there is a good chance it'll never track quite right from now on. I've seen some that have been fixed so well you'd never know. Others... not so much. And if they DO decide to fix it make sure that your insurance pays out the decreased value as well since you'll never be able to sell it for book value now.

Can't tell how extensive the damage is just from pictures but it appears to me to be about 6-9k in damage possibly more. I'm sure the airbag deployed as well. Usually if it's that close to the value they total it. If they total it take the money buy another one and if you can buy that one back from the insurance company for parts.

This is what would hope too. I would already be looking at available 2011+ in my area. Also I'm not an expert or an insurance adjuster ( just putting that out there ) but I'm pretty sure your car is totaled. If it's anywhere close I would plea for them to total loss the vehicle. If possible don't allow them to use aftermarket collision repair parts in their estimate. Tell them ford parts are what is on the vehicle, and that what you want the parts replaced with. That will help drive up the price of the estimate.

Great point. If you insist on Ford parts and dealership repair it, it will move it closer to being totaled.
But you would want those original body parts anyway and not cheap knocks offs.

Agreed, make damn sure the adjuster knows you want original OEM parts for every single thing that is broken. I'm not a master tech either (not on cars, just on jet airplanes) but I have been through this before so I think I'm qualified to speak from life experience and how the process goes. But what do I know?

Yeah you should delete all your posts that are not related to jet airplanes. You are not qualified to speak about car repairs. LOL

Lol yeah, I probably should. I've only been digging into Mustangs on the side for 14 years now lol.

Biggest thing with working on big aircraft is to make sure you remember to pour in the mind control additive that shoots out in the contrails when you check the oil.

Whoops...

Radiator, brakes, engine mounts, steering and suspension, frame, airbag(s).

Yeah, it's done. Even if it's fixed, it'll never drive or brake straight again.

If your frame rail isn't bent it could be fixed for less than 6k, if they want to repair it tell them you want it checked in the frame machine, it will tell if your frame isn't straight.

It may be possible if you do the work yourself with used parts but it's highly likely the frame rail is bent and don't forget about the airbag. But it hard to say just looking at pictures.

You are better off with it totaled honestly. What are you getting for it if you don't mind saying here? Might want to look into buying it back if you have a lot of good aftermarket parts on it still. A lot of 05-09 stuff will work on the 11-up cars since they share the same chassis. Or if you are getting another 3v...

I would too, if it is totaled, go for another s197 4.6, boost it and walk all over the 5.0s while looking and sounding better as well.

Nope, a bolt on 5.0 will roflstomp a boosted 4.6L with the stock bottom end. Don't even mess with a 4.6L dude, go for the Coyote and never look back.

It's nothing but a car. As long as you walked away with no injuries or minor injuries, that is the most important thing.
