Painting headlights

Is it bad to paint the inside of your headlights black? Will light still project? I'm getting some light covers, but I want them to seem darker without actually being darker. I can pop off the cover and paint the Chrome part black but would that affect the reflection of the light?

Yes. That will have a serious negative effect on the way that the headlight projects light. I'll even go so far as to say that if you do paint them, they will be ruined.

Unless, of course, you never plan on driving the car in the dark, the rain, the snow, etc.

He said that because you asked if painting your headlights' reflectors would affect their light output.

You might be able to paint the inner housing, just not the shinny part.

Raxiom sells something similar to this already on American muscle. That's the route I would go honestly. Too much room for error when working with headlights.
