Cold air intake with a custom tune and a set of 4:10 gears that should give you a pretty good start for about under a grand.

Fast, Cheap, Reliable

You can only pick 2.

If it's easy fast and reliable, it definitely won't be cheap.

Better brakes do nothing unless your tires and suspension are up to par. If you slam on your brakes and feel the ABS kick in then you already have more than enough braking power.

Ahh who needs brakes anyways? That's one of the last things I would do unless I was taking my car to the track. And for 1k you won't be able to get those gears installed. But like buddy said a cai and a sct or Diablo tuner. That will set you back well over 600, gears are relatively cheap but the install will cost you like 500.

You could add an axle-back exhaust onto a tune and CAI. The axle-back won't give you much power if any, but it will sound so much better. If you already have and axle-back then maybe a x pipe or h pipe.

Where you're sitting at now you (750$) you can really only do either a Cai/tune combo OR gears.

With the gears+bearing/rebuild kit+install costs you will be sitting around 750. Plus after the gear install you will need a tune to set the speedometer right..

That being said I would do the cai/tune for now and save up for a month or so and get the gears.

Guess they got a point on the gear cost i had a buddy do mine for me so that kept my price down on the labor side.

Wow, it's only 200 dollars at most of the good shops around here to do gears....
