Hurst Shifter in a 07 roush/ valve tap on start up

Hello, I am currently looking at a 07 roush stage 3. I test drove the car. Is it normal to have left and right play in the shifter when it is in all gears? I had a short throw shifter in my 93 and I remember it was rock solid.
Also is it normal to have a slight valve tap on start up on the 4.6? Thanks

The valve noise at startup could be a sticking lifter, it could be a really easy fix, you could also have to replace some parts. I would use this to get a really good deal on the car. Tell him its sticking lifters and will require them to be replaced.
Then after u get the car, hope a simple oil change will fix the issue.

as soon as the motor warmed up the tick went away within a few min. I have searched the web and so far it seems like the tick is normal on start up on the 4.6

pretty much. as far as the shifter I have a Hurst an it does have a little play side to side but its not excessive. It could be worn out but its an easy fix so if you get a good deal just replace the shifter.

What's the mileage? Plus if the owner drove the car like an idiot plays a lot in the condition of the car. I have a 08 Roush 427R with none of these issues. the car was probably driven like a race car all the time. Hammering on the car will cause some issues. Something you might want to have checked is the supercharger; the Roush m90 is known to leak.

Excuse my naivety. I was born at a very early age.
