Car won't start after Cam install

Installed some Hot Rod racing cams and even after putting a Bama tune on the car it still won't turn over. I thought it might have been that my battery no longer had enough cranking amps but that wasn't it either. Anyone have any possible ideas?

Might sound like a dumb question but did you remove the wedge?

Yeah, everything is where it's supposed to be and secure. We went over everything twice just to be sure.

I think the chain may have shifted on the cam sprocket. It started once but died almost immediately

When you say "Won't turn over", do you mean that the starter won't spin the engine? Or the engine spins but it won't start?

You would be hearing some kind of strange noise if a cam jumped a tooth.

A quick test to determine whether the non-starting problem is caused by no spark or by no fuel, is to spray some starting fluid down the throttle body and see if it "pops". If it tries to start, then you are not getting fuel. If it doesn't try to start, then you aren't getting any spark for some reason.
I know that you have double and triple checked everything, but go back and take a look at every single electrical and vacuum connection that you had to take apart to do the cams. Sometimes they can look like they are plugged in completely but aren't.

Yeah you must be forgetting some sort of plug even though not much is required removing just intake and the cam phaser solenoids, how did you determine its not he battery jump start? trying charging the battery for a little if thats the case

We determined it wasn't the battery after we swapped it for a new one

Hey Harb,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with the cams. Having done them in the past I know they're not as easy as changing a tire! This sounds like it could be a Strategy Read Difference. Can you get back into the stock tune, and use the tuner to read the strategy for the team at Bama? Once you have this shoot them a call so they can make sure that it matches and they can give you some other pointers as well!

Let me know if you have any questions in the meantime and I'm here to help.

Alex

If it were an older car I'd think the distributor was turned 180 degrees. I'm not sure how it works with newer cars as of yet as I've only worked on pushrod motors. Is there anything similar to that which could cause the problem ? I just bought an 08 GT so I have to go buy me a Chilton's to figure out how these motors work. Can't do any upgrades till I do that.
