Single turbo 3V

So I am getting back into the mustang world. I had an 06 GT with full bolt ons, cams, exhaust, 4.10's and a tune. I wrecked the car a little over a year ago but I am ready to get another one. I am wanted to go with a turbo car. I know a lot of people hate on the ON3 kit, but I want to know why? From someone who has the kit. What is so bad about it? I don't plan on running the turbo that the kit comes with, so what else is there that is sub-par about the kit? I am looking to get this build started soon so I would appreciate any input you guys have.

From everything I've heard is that On3 used to be pretty sketchy in terms of quality but they got their act together and offer solid kits now.

I'm also curious about the kit. I know it hangs down pretty low, but would you be able to put some kind of skid plate below it to protect the pipes? I believe that Frankie3v said he was going to get the kit a few weeks ago, if so he might be able to clear things up.

It's all about the smiles per gallon

I seems that you know the kit has issues and people here have had trouble with it.
It's better to save some more cash and get a solid system that's dependable.
It's great to say you have a turbo and use it, but when it's always down or constantly needs repairs or tweaks, it's worthless.
After the initial thrill of the extra HP and acceleration, then it's all about reliability. Do yourself a favor and get a good one. Don't talk yourself into something mediocre at best.

This kit was installed 2 months ago on my friend/neighbors car, a 2009 GT.

This is after they corrected the piping.

Car made 407rwhp 450 torque on 6 lb boost. They would have made more, but they pegged the stock maf and possibly the fuel pump and he ran out of funds. He's buying those parts in a week or two. He has an aeromotive 340, so he's just going to get a boost a pump.

I am considering going with a STS kit, but I really don't know if I want to do a rear mounting turbo. That's the only downside of that kit in my opinion. I even get a good deal on STS kits through my work, but I don't know if it's worth not being able to open the hood and see a turbo.
