07 GT pinging

My 07 GT pings at sudden acceleration. Slightly when it's cold, but more noticeable after it warms up. I've changed the spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter and oil change regulary I've even used Sea Foam. I heard about carbon build-up. I'm not the first owner. My mechanic is puzzled just like I am. He said that maybe the computer set-up/specs if off. I've had the car for approx. 2 yrs. now and it has always done this. I also read that these motors are notorious for doing this. I'm thinking about going 5.0, but I love my car and really don't want to get rid of it, if I can find and fix the problem. Any suggestions or solutions. Is there a way to get the factory timing specs and hook it to a analizer/scanner to see it the specs are set correctly. I really appreciate any help and am willing to do whatever it takes. Thanks again.

What weight oil do you use? 4.6 has vvt and the cam phasers work off oil pressure if you use to thick or thin an oil it may do that. 5w20 is factory but if you have higher mileage then you can use a thicker oil like 5w30.

Why does additional mileage allow the use of a thicker oil? I just installed the Ford Racing camshafts then did a 5w30 fully synthetic oil change in my 4.6 @ 34K miles.

As your tolerances in the engine get bigger and if you get noisy cam phasers(ticking) going with a heavier weight oil fixes this. Putting off the inevitable of course engine wear is what it is.

Could be in your tune, my 08 did that with my old C&L tune, after I added a supercharger, cams and a new tune the problem stopped.

I had this problem but it ended up being more serious, my cylinder 1 piston was making contact with head so I had to get a rebuild
