Also how much of a difference does the sidewall height make?
I know a shorter sidewall will have less flex and therefore be more predictable and handle better overall, but how much is to much sidewall?
I like the look of tall/meaty tires, but I don't want to make my car handle like s***. I'm asking because I currently have a set of 17x8 wheels from American Muscle and I'm wondering if I should look into getting new wheels. All input is appreciated, thanks guys.
It's all about the smiles per gallon
Pony - Good question and I would ask what you're looking to get into? Tracking the car? Experiencing traction issues or just looking to get something larger on there?
For what it's worth It's definitely noticeable when you're making the swap to say something like a Nitto NT555 275/35/18
: I've run this tire on my Bullitt for some time and for the mods on my car along with my driving style I think they're perfect. If I was making north of 400hp I would be in something a little stickier but they're a fantastic tire. In regards to your questions on the sidewall there's going to be guys around that will argue that it's "night and day" but when you're walking away from the car and turn around you're not going to notice this as it's really negligible!
If and when you're looking at the other wheels let me know what you're after and I'm happy to help with narrowing down the best fit for you!
