08GT Top rpm

I have an 08GT with thumper comp cams and I must put a procharger on it. Stock bottom. 475whp. What can I max out at rpm's? Naturally aspirated I was shifting at 6700

08GT Top rpm

I was told by a rep at comp cams that the thumper series cams weren't boost friendly. And anything over 450rwhp on a stock bottom end 3V is running on borrowed time. I'd recommend lowering your boost or forge your internals. In other words driving it like you stole it with that much HP, it's going to go boom.
I'm also running boost and looked into camming my engine. I wanted a mutha thumpr cam. A comp cam rep told me that those cam series aren't for boosted cars N/A only. Someone else might know better than me, but that's what the rep told me.

Adventure till you drop

I've seen a few people run over that just fine, it's all in the tune. Yes it's better safe than sorry to forge it. But my friend has been pushing 480whp for a while in his 3v on stock internals.....

Also how high you should rev is dependent on your valve train, not the amount of power. You can have 800hp but only make power up to 6k rpm. Dyno the car and see where the car makes peak horsepower and shift there.

Thanks! I heard that about comp cams to but wasn't sure. Sounds like you heard it right from the horses mouth. I put them in 2 yrs ago before I boosted the car this may.
I was running 360 NA 12.6 1/4 mile and now 465 and I'm running 1/4 mile slower! 13.1
Killing me. Mph isn't there at the end. I'm thinking it's the cams

Got the Dyno sheet and we set a rev limiter at 6400. Thing wants to keep going. First pull was 501 whp.
We were taken back by that number so started doing lower rpm pulls.
I've been sooooo lucky with this motor. I find it special. Making big numbers. The motor gotta be on of those diamonds in the ruff sort of

I run my hot rod cams routinely to 7k and the hp keeps climbing. Vortec v3 and snow meth injection, ported heads , stock bottom end. 479 rwhp on a mustang dyno. Cams like Rpm. Rev it up!
