Cool. I will keep that in mind. I probably won't be doing this suspension work for a couple of months as we are getting ready for a nine hundred mile move and I don't want to ge caught with my car in pieces.

The crank in the short block forged too?

No, but it's not the crank that breaks....it's the pistons and rods.

Speaking of tires.

Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels

285/35/19 Mickeys are 27" tall and badass rubber. You want to get really cray then run a 20" wheel and a 305/35/20 and hope she fits under the fender lol. One thing I love about the S197, bigger wheels fit and work well and the car doesn't look like its on roller skates like stock tire size SN95s.

3:73's if you plan on freeway driving more than about 60/65 mph.
4:10 if you are only concerned with racing, stoplight to stoplight driving and don't give a rip about freeway or gas mileage....or split the difference and go 3:90's.
Guys with no power just love low gears because it gives them the illusion of power, but at the expense of freeway drive-ability and mileage. It's great at first, but eventually gets very old very fast.
Agree....there you go it's unanimous.

Seriously.....the above pretty much sums it up.

No it doesn't. You can't choose gears in a vacuum for one. Also the 3.90s are made my Motive and aren't the greatest. Not to mention that you can turn a decent RPM with 4.10s with the 05+ 27" tall tires or go to 28s. But depending on the rest of the setup and how much power the car is making... that will make a big difference.

Regret going to 3.73/4.10 rear?

I have 4.10s in my car with a stick. I've had people ask if it's an auto just after I said that. And then my friend with a classic firebird asked if i start in 3rd gear at a light because if that and then a 3.xx 1st ratio. But i love the short gears

Its not a vacuum of one...it's a statement of fact.
I've been there, done that and this is accurate information.

Do you have an 05 auto GT and have personally run all those gear sets...personally?
Or are you using second hand information?

315/20's will fit an s197 with the right wheel....done it.
335/18's also fit with the right wheel. Done it.
The difference of 1" in tire height is only worth about 100 rpm at 65 mph.
Not enough to make a significant difference.

I actually do have some experience though not as much with the 3V as you seem to. However I had it in my head we were talking the stick shift for some reason.

Yes with the converter slip and the automatic at .75 final drive... lol no.

My bad but I still stand by what I said if you've got the 3650.
