2006 Sheby clone-buy or not to buy?

Hello fellow members,

I am need of opinions and advice.
I have been looking at a 2006 Mustsng GT premium with the following options.
Shelby front clip.
Shelby suspension
Shelby supercharger (claims 575 HP)
Under drive pulleys
Shelby wheels
Shelby badges
TCI shifter (auto)
It has 44,000 original miles and Carfax looks good.
I have the chance to grab this at $18,000.
I think I know the answer, but was looking for your advice an opinions on if it is with the $$$.

Thank you in advance,
Peter

That's coyote money your talking about. I'd go 2011-14 gt. More potential, better investment, imo

There's a 428R here that has them. I haven't met the owner or seen the car up close. But a friend who works at a parts store told me the mods he saw on the car.

It can, but why would you do it? The supercharger relies upon the belt to spin it - and the underdrive pulley slows down the belt to reduce the speed that accessories are moving (to reduce parasitic power loss) and therefore makes the supercharger spin slower. So you are working against what the supercharger needs to make power.

575hp on a GT(3v) good luck bud that's a ticking time bomb, unless forge bottom end.

NO!!! I love my 3v but i recommend just getting a 5.0. This car honestly sounds shady to me.

Yes...we are suggesting you pass unless you know more about the car. Can you post up a link to the car ad?

I dunno... With some haggling and more info on the tune. Might be 575 fwhp and that might just be what the builder said was ballpark. Who knows. Definitely worth a call but not if you are new to these cars.

I've been around Mustangs most of my life. Heading to the big 50. Age not liters!
I actually took it for a blast last weekend. Feels tight. Has a nice suspension. Tight ride. No under drive pulleys, I was mistaken. The first owner did all of the modifications. Second owner doesn't have any of the paperwork. CARFAX came back as 2 accidents. Said they were minor. Car is sitting at a friends house who is a car collector. Might just walk away from this one.

I probably would. 2 accidents and an owner who has no idea.

I would trust it if I had done all the mods but so hard to trust that much work in somebody else's hands. For that price tho, you can get a very very nice car. A great termi or numbered car like scottys. Before I paid that much for something pho, I'd invest in something legit and not have to worry about it.

Well, previous owner having 0 clue and blowing a cylinder helps bring down the price lol. Kinda a matter of time when all the supercharger couplers are dry rotted and leaking air like crazy. That's not going to mess with whatever tune is on it or anything... Among a few other things.

I had my eyes on an 06GT before I bought mine but walked away when it came back with an accident and repaint (white to torch red) and that was reported as a "minor" accident. I loved the car but looking back I am definitely glad I waited and got a car with a clean bill of health. Good luck in your decision...

Try to think ahead to when YOU want to unload it on someone else with that kind of history already. As a 3rd owner, two previous crashes etc. It's got stink all over it.
Plus, the car shouldn't have snakes or "Shelby" on it! It's not a "tribute" it's not a "clone" it's a FAKE Shelby.

2006 Sheby clone-buy or not to buy?

It's your money bro , but I smell buyers remorse all over this one. I'm sure you're leaning toward pulling the trigger on this and then instantly reality will hit like a bible in a $2 whore house...

Get what you want and what you deserve I personally would never take someone's sloppy 2nds and 3rds no no matter how sweet it may look. It's not a real Shelby don't volunteer yourself for instant humiliation...

I also loathe "tribute" cars. Its not a tribute, buyer didn't have the money for a real one so is being a poser. This 2006 would look just as amazing as it sits but without the Shelby badging all over it.

Agreed. Its probably fast and all but dude probably spent $20k on it believing that "its faster than the real thing" and then went up against a bolt on Coyote and got his *** handed to him or went to the track and couldn't break into the 11s.

However you can definitely use buyer's remorse to your advantage... guy might be sitting at $18k for awhile and just want to dump it and come down in $$$. I know for sure that the guy I bought my car from was just mad at himself for buying it and he dumped it to me CHEAP.
