Under drive pulleys

I was wondering what the pros and cons of under drive pulleys are. I have a 2010 gt. Are they worth it, what's the difference in brands? (Quality or just price)

They are good if you plan on keeping N/A. Once supercharging it's not recommended. But they say Ford runs there water pump and alternator fast, so slowing them down with the under drive pulleys doesn't hurt..

I don't really see the point in putting them on

I've seen a bunch of posts warning about charging issues with udp's and automatics. No one seems to say this is an issue with manuals. Can someone maybe explain this? This is the only negative I've ever read with the exception of cost to hp gain.

On the old OHV 5.0 engines, under drive pulleys were the rage. Not so sure about the newer engines.

I would read some reviews on some retailer's websites and make up your mind.

I have a 2008/4.6 and have been running the Steeda UDP's since day 1 with no issues. Hard to tell the exact gains since I did multiple upgrades at the same time. I'd install it again given the choice. No charging issues at all. The Steeda UDP is a quality machined piece and recommend. Avoid BBK at all costs as it's a bad design and can cause un-reported (not me but buddy's experience and legally silenced) problems. Get the Steeda UDP over any other brand even though it may cost marginally more...it's the superior UDP. It's been awhile since I installed it but but the Install is straight forward.....you'll need an impact wrench, gear puller, torque wrench, black silicone for crankshaft keyway, locktite and a new Ford crank bolt (don't re-use the old one).

Looks like the Steeda is the way to go. Not surprisingly BBK parts are suspect.
