Weird idle

After putting a 93 octane race tune, my car idles fine with no ac on but when I turn on my ac my rpms drop to almost 300 and feels like it wants to die, I have my tuner set at 800 for my desired idle rpms anyone got any ideas what it could be?

You have a bama or a tuner with more then one tune? (Performance or Street) Try another and see if it does the same thing?

The AC system draws an electrical load, so great of a load that RPMs will drop considerably when the AC clutch is engaged. If your AC and car is working fine when cruising then idle is an obvious suspect. There is a solenoid in automotive AC systems that compensates for the RPM drop by increasing throttle when the air conditioning is engaged. I bet there is something wrong with the solenoid and/or associated wiring. It is sometimes referred to as the idle air controller. Here is a link to someone with the same issue that you are having, and there seems to be plenty of people asking the same question elsewhere. https://answers.yahoo.com/question/i...0173655AA3DD40

Your car IS going to want to die at 300 RPM, but that step-up selonoid should compensate for an RPM drop in any situation. Either Bama messed with it or it was faulty before the tune and now the tune is the last straw.
