Differential pinion flange!!

Has anyone had to replace their differential seal? Has anyone ran into trouble with removing the pinion flange? I can't get that thing off for anything!! I tried a puller, but it shot off with the force of a bullet. I don't think the puller was a good quality one. Is there a trick to getting it off? I've leaked so much oil from it. Also, once the seal is replaced, is there a way to put in oil to fill what was lost?

Thanks guys.

Haha...yes, I did. I'd feel real stupid if I didn't. I've tried two times to take this thing off, today I'm just going to rest, but I will go out and buy a quality puller.

reason i asked about nut was, the penion normally slids right off. Never had one needed a puller on,maybe tap back with hammer. Spray down with pb blaster and let soak over night. Where sre you located, salt country?

go out right now buy a can of blaster or some other GOOD PENETRATING OIL spray down every hr till you go to bed tonight may slide right off tomorrow.get a 10lb dead blow hammer and beat it off.only use the air hammer if you pland to replace it, another option if you are desperate I have done this in the past put penion nut back on leave a little loose just enough that the penion shaft can move.put driveshaft back in rock car back and forth 1st /reverse DON'T DRIVE<JUST ROCK with car idling. DONT DRIVE
