do the brake lights work? idk if there are multiple switches on it but if there is only one and the lights don't work it's a good guess. You may want to buy a fair quality meter and learn how to use it. My other suggestion is do you have another key? If the key is worn that also works an interlock.

I am betting it is the brake light switch as well.

Had this same problem on my '95 T/A. It happened as the weather got colder. The colder it was, the longer I would have to let the car run before I could shift out of park. Close to 10 minutes eventually, and also got to the point where it happened in warm weather. Once I did get it out of park, it was fine for the rest of the day.

Everyone was saying brake light switch. I had it in to the dealer and they couldn't figure it out. After a couple years of dealing with it, I found out there was a shifter solenoid switch under the console. I replaced that and has worked perfectly for the last 5 years.

I know it's a different car, but worth looking into whether you have a shifter solenoid switch also because the brake light switch took me down a dead path.
