Best sounding exhaust system

So I just got a 2005 mustang gt a couple days ago and I think it looks great. However I don't think the sound really matches the look, so I was wondering your guys opinion on the best sounding exhaust and about how much it will cost. Thanks for the help.Click image for larger version

Headers off road h and borla stingers. Throw in some cams for good measure.

Sound is always subjective. Be prepared for a lot of opinions.

No, it's a joke there's a guy on here that swears on Outlaws, and all other systems are junk. But hey you might like them. It's all good.

Stay away from Outlaws lol. Loud and sound like a truck. Just go on American muscle . com and listen to their reviews and clips. I currently have the violators.

I'm happy with my Roush Extreme axlebacks. Just to give you some options; AM is definitely the place to check out exhaust systems. Or PM Alex on the forum. He's one of the AM reps on the forum.
Going to be ordering FR500s for my GT soon, hopefully.

Made by Pypes. Probably one of the cheaper options out there. Keep in mind I have headers and a catless h pipe as well,

Probably around 1200ish. Then when you factor in the tune needed to run catless it would be about 1600.

Threads like this are literally "what movie star is the hottest" or something along those lines. Exhaust sound is subjective. Go to a local car meet or get on youtube or whatever and get the one that sounds best to YOU.

As far as cost... there is this thing called the internet and you can look up all the prices on it lol.

Picked up an 09 GT last week "for my wife" and we have been running wide open through clips to find the best exhaust that "she likes". We came down to Loudmouth II, JBA, and the FR500s axlebacks as our final choices to choose from. We finally made the decision on...

FR500s exhaust

We were looking for the mean growl at idle as well as a great growl under wot. On Youtube, I'm not sure what type of reviews "CJPony" has but that guy tends to believe that as long as the Cats remain on the car then the drone from practically any exhaust setup inside the car is not loud and over bearing. So good luck on your hunt...I anticipate this setup will sound great for "her"

Agreed. Also reviews on CJ/AM/LRS are not exactly the greatest place to get information from. I'd say 75% of the time its someone who has had the part on for all of 2 minutes and is just excited to tell the world how great their purchase is.

And yeah Flowmaster outlaws and MANY chambered mufflers will drone like crazy even with cats. Whoever wrote that review is probably a Flowmaster fanboy.

But the FR500s will be great and will not drone. Another real good upgrade if you want performance without the drone is the GT500 setup. Very good performer and does not drone.

I can't remember... I know if I was going with a Coyote exhaust it would be Dynatech Longtubes/pipe and a Magnaflow catback. I'm probably the biggest Magnaflow fanboy on this site actually myself lol. Although the Bassanni kit that came on my car from 2000 still looks brand new and sounds amazing. That's another often overlooked brand.

FR500s are on my list for my GT. I believe you're correct its a variant of the stingers. I could be wrong , but pretty sure about it.

I have a convertible, so the exhaust was always a little louder when in the car, compared to the coupe. Having written that, putting on the Ford Racing X-Pipe and axle back Ford Racing Touring mufflers has been an eye opener. I did lots of research on the internet, listening to every make and model of axle back exhaust on YouTube, and nothing prepared me for the sound inside my car now. I am so glad I didn't get anything louder.

The ones on my 2000 sound like a combination of Fergi and Jesus. And they are 15+ years old now and the whole catback still legit looks new. AFIAK they were still using 304 stainless back then which will probably look new in another 10 years...

Glad to read the positive feedback on the FR500 exhaust that I'm anticipating. I mean "we're" anticipating. I saw someone had listed the Stingers, those were also on the list we were choosing from. We really couldn't make up our minds and figured any of them we would be pleased with but trying to think logically I said - Its Ford Racing lol. So the order was placed.

Nate and Scotty, I would agree with you in saying they are only posting reviews and their thoughts just after having them installed for a few minutes. So you are probably right on your opinion of them... I was shocked myself when he said as long as the factory cats remain on the car there isn't much drone. I was thinking well whats he comparing the drone too? Stock setup and muffler or straight pipes cus there has to be some additional drone when removing the muffler and adding a more growling setup.

That said, I told my wife I'd like to post a clip of startup with engine cold, then post a clip of startup with the engine already warm. A clip of her and I having a convo at highway speeds over the drone - and do this with both stock and FR500 setups so this way it would give everyone a better understanding of this FR500 setup all the way around and what to expect.

You are smart to keep your wife involved. With my convertible, like I wrote earlier if I had put on anything louder than the Ford Racing Touring axle backs, well let me say my wife would not have been a happy passenger. It's important she be happy. Really important....
