PAINT OPINIONS

I just bought a second hand hood which is painted. I need to get it painted the color of my car. What is a good estimation of cost between sanding and color matching and getting it plasti dipped. Thanks.

Uh...ok. Sounds like someone doesn't know how to follow directions.

Paint will run you $800-$1000.
Dip will run you $150-200 from a reputable shop.

Your choice.

Yes I get that Dip is a hole lot cheaper. But Dip could easily peel off if hit with rock chips, you can't wax dip. Dip is for people who can't afford a quality paint jobs and want a quick CHEAP fix for temp. Get a paint job. Don't waste your money on dip. It's a phase that went bad. lol.

Once again you clearly haven't done it properly.

I wax my dipped cars with turtle wax ice every few months. No issues with rock chips, 18 wheeler blowouts, random shopping carts, etc. I personally have over 20k miles on dipped cars and have experienced no issues like you describe.

I thought this too till I saw a pro dipped car in person. I didn't know it wasn't paint until they told me.

I'm looking into learning how to do it too since my car needs paint and its way easier and cheaper and DIY to dip. Not to mention you can color change on your own over a weekend yourself if you get sick of it.

How much is that to Dip an entire car?

9-1200?

Depending on location you could even get a car painted cheaper..

Surely you know a half decent scuff and respray is over $1200 anywhere in the country. Color change is easily double that.

I've never had a paint quote under $4500 for a professional job. No fish eyes or orange peel.

These products are a solution for those people looking to change up a vehicle without making a permanent change. It's a viable alternative for vinyl wraps. Compare the prices.

Lol I know how wrap goes, I used to work for Metro Wraps out in South Florida. The dip looks good though.

You cannot get a decent paint job for less than 4K and that's cheap. You want a full color change with jambs ect...10k easy.

You can get quotes and people who say it's less. But every dollar in savings they quote is a dollar less prep and finish work they will do.

Thats kind of a "who you know" kind of thing. A friend who is a professional painter shaved my antenna, painted the fender, blended the door, painted the hood, and painted the roof for $150. Better than factory. The thing to remember is that body guys only make $20 an hour or so... So if you can get one to work off the books a professional paint job can be had extremely cheap. My buddy paints a whole car excluding jams for $1000. Youre right though, going through a shop is insanely expensive so im excited to see the progress of sprayable coatings.
