Brake question and recommendation

So I have a 2010 Mustang GT that I had serviced in a Ford dealer. Upon inspection I was told that my brake lining (Rear, inner) needs to be changed and have my brake rotors resurface. My question is does the brake lining and break pads the same? any recommendations?

Yes same thing, is this the 1st time they have been replaced? Usually every 2nd change on the front I will do the Rear, at least on my old Mustang, haven't got there on this one yet!

Are you going to do it or the dealer?

It is not necessary to replace all at the same time. Both fronts or both rears. But fronts and rears will wear differently. Fronts will always wear faster.

Brake linings is actually the portion of a brake pad(disc brakes) or brake shoe( drum brakes) that comes in contact with the rotor or drum as applicable.
What the person meant, I believe, is that the brake linings are worn so the pads should be replaced.

If you do get them to do the rear brakes, I'd be curious to know what they charge now-a-days to resurface rotors.?
However, almost guaranteed that you would save a lot of money to get someone you know or some local mechanic to do it for you. If the rotors are in fact in need of resurfacing, the cost of new ones should be compared and considered.
