Drivers Side Exhaust Manifold

My upstream o2 Sensor on my drivers side is seized in the manifold. I want to take off the exhaust manifold to get out the o2 sensor and put in the new one.

I have reviewed different how-tos on how to get the job done, and they say to lift the engine up. Do I actually need to do that if I am going to be putting the stock exhaust manifold back on? Is lifting the engine just for putting on the aftermarket headers, because they are not log shaped? There seems to be enough room, but I do not want to start the project and not be able to finish it because I do not have the tools to lift the motor (i.e. a jack capable of reaching that height when on stands).
