steering wheel shake

Another maintenance question. So I upgraded my wheels and tires from 17" stock with michelins to 19" swaps from a 2015 with pirellis. I've had them balanced twice. I got new tire rods installed. Replaced shocks and struts last year. Everything is smooth until I reach 60 mph. That's when I get severe steering wheel shake. After I reach 70mph and faster it goes away. Any suggestions? Anyone have this problem?

I too have this problem at 50-65 mph. I also have 19" aftermarket rims wrapped in Nitto's. I have had two shops check at inner and outer tie rods, alignment and everything always checks out. I wouldn't say its severe but defiantly an annoyance.

The weird thing is that it's not consistent. Sometimes it will shake and other days it will be stone solid.

Wheel shaking/vibration can potentially come from a few things. Worn control arm bushings, tie rods, engine mounts, unbalanced tires, poor tire quality, abnormal tire wear, etc.

Have all of these been checked? It really could be a number of things.

Yeah it has new tires, new tire rods, new suspension, and balanced several times. The other things you listed I'm not sure, probably not.

Have you tried getting the tires rotated to see if the shaking would move to the back of the car? If so, then it would have been the front wheels. Assuming the back wheels are ok.

Go to a shop that can road force test your wheels and tires. They can pinpoint exactly where the vibration is from. It shouldn't cost any more than a normal 4 wheel balance.

Yeah the tires have recently been rotated. I will have to look into that road force test shop. I'm not sure where to go for that. I guess I am just keep it pegged all the time!

Ya I went and got it balanced yet again and it has improved. It only took three times at the same shop to get the balance somewhat correct. Next time I will go to a different shop.
