415 whp 375tq, Finally done

Just finished up my list of mods and I "think" I'm finally satisfied. Car made 415/375 with only a mild tune. Other then maybe replacing the IC pump, which when I bought the car the pump was seized (shop took it apart and cleaned it out I guess and now it works great but I don't know for how long) and new tints I think its finally done.

Running the stock internals we are pushing it at 500 hp at the motor, I want mine to live so that's why the very easy tune of 400 at the wheels. Best run of 12.407 at 110 mph in the quarter earlier this year.

Stock '05 Mustang 4.6 cams, Kenne Bell 2.4 L blower, Thumper Racing belt tensioner, (needed to keep from shredding the belt when you bounce off the rev limiter - and with the blower you will!), Modern Classics modified the tune that came with the blower - some parts of the rev range were a little lean thus lowering the RWH from 418 to 400. I blew the auto trans so replaced it with a Performance Automatic re-worked Ford automatic, still using an 1800 stall converter but by ATI. One piece aluminum drive shaft, (now that was a real pain in the rear-end, the car is lowered 1 inch with Bilstien shocks and springs) due to that the center u-joint carrier had to come out, but the shaft still hit the floor! Used a five pound dead blow hammer to pound the floor up for clearance, looks OK after painting the tunnel. BMR lower control arms and a BMR adjustable upper control arm to set the correct pinion angle. Also used a BMR djustable panhard rod to re-center the rear axle, it was ~ 1 1/2 inches offset to the drivers side - due to lowering or just build tollerance build-up? BMR strut tower brace. Nitto 555R 305 drag raidials on 10 inch wide rear rims. Like I said before it's a fun ride. I pretty much plan on leaving the motor alone for longevity. There might be some brake upgrades coming but it is a street car not a track queen. Oh and a TCI hammer shifter...

Sounds like a ton of work just for a lighter driveshaft, not worth it to me. Gears 3:31's or 3:55's?

3.31's reasonable on the strip and good on the street. How is yours running?

I put in 3:73's. Stock was 3:31's and I was not impressed with the pull from second and third gear. Gears made a huge difference but defiantly not as "laid back" to drive, gets a little annoying in traffic but all in all it was worth it. I'm glad you mentioned that about the driveshaft and not being worth it because that has been something I have been debating about. Not going to bother now.
