How to get rid of "trumpeting"

Hey guys, my car trumpets pretty bad around 2500rpm and I'd like to eliminate it if possible. Right now I have an off-road h pipe and flow master American thunder axle backs (60 series I believe).
I want to keep the o/r h pipe. What mufflers if any would help get rid of the trumpeting and also sound good with my h pipe?

How to get rid of "trumpeting"

Add some resonators. But it happens more often when you free up the exhaust.

You have cats, OP does not. X pipe + catless = rasp. I'm sure your MagnaFlows also help with rasp. Whereas some of the Flowmaster and all of the SLPs get quite raspy with an X.

OP a set of resonators or some high flow cats will help. I run an of road H and Flowmaster Original 40's. They are not raspy like my God awful Loudmouths. I'm glad you want to keep the off road H, I'm a big fan of the muscle car sound you get with the H. I'm one of the people that truly do not understand the appeal of an X. But to each their own.

Project Pony is right, I just had to ditch my setup due to extremely raspy and drone:
Previous: UPR OR X with Roush Extreme Axle Back <- stupid loud, raspy, drone at 2,300-3,000
Current: UPR OR X with Borla Touring. Nice rumble, on a scale from 1 to I hear you from 2 miles away (Roush) I would say I'm at about 6

No not talking about drone, on the highway in 5th there is no drone the exhaust is quiet. It's kind of weird to explain, at around 2500rpm in every gear the exhaust gets really loud, border line obnoxious. Then after 2500-2700 it gets back quieter and starts sounding good. I have heard this referred to as trumpeting.
Recon do you have a better way of explaining it?
I definetly want to keep the o/r h pipe. Didn't really want to add resonators because I don't want to lose any volume besides the trumpeting. I was hoping if I changed the mufflers it would eliminate it

To be honest thats what I was referring to, maybe I was wrong calling it drone. With the old setup I had, as stated above, I had the same incredibly obnoxious (not borderline but unbearable) raspy then high pitched sound around 2,300 - almost 3k rpm. I seriously parked the car in the garage and left it until I ordered the Borla mufflers and had the time to install it, thats how unbearable it was.

How to get rid of "trumpeting"

Well from what I'm reading it sounds like you're explaining drone. It's a common issue with Flowmasters.
https://youtu.be/MAVRlUl4G10
Starting 1:00 is trumpeting. Freeing up the exhaust results in the exhaust developing a trumpeting sound. Freeing up = less restrictive = no cats, better flow mufflers, etc.
You can look into some Magnaflow mufflers or some Borlas. Personally, I wouldn't have Magnaflows unless it's Mangapacks.

I used to have a terrible trumpeting and droning issue with my set up. Longtube, off roah H, abd Mac Axle backs. I got some resonators welded in for 50$ at a local exhaust shop and it was fixed. I sacrificed maybe 20% of the volume, but i think it sound way better.

I've had a few axlebacks with my off-road H pipe and longtubes (both Kooks):

1. Magnaflow Street - sounded good all around but too quiet. I had these when you daughter was an infant until she turned 2.5 years old and then switches to bassani SS.
2. Bassani SS - Too loud, horrible drone, trumpting and a rattle sound.
3. Borla Stingers - on their way from A.M. now, will install next week

I think I will pick up some borla stingers over winter, since the car goes into storage in another month or so..
Hopefully it sounds better since they are a straight through muffler and not chambered

I just had the Borla Stingers put it. Initial impressions are that they have an awesome sound (the best I have had), not overly loud but definitely loud enough, deep and throaty tone (for the 4.6 - it's all relative). No trumpting. I am super happy with the sound and volume.

The only drawback is that I had to have the hangers heated up and bent on both sides to get the tips to sit straight in the cutouts. No big deal I guess but it would be nice if they came fully bolt-on from the manufacturer.

Overall, both thumps up.

Yeah, sorry, I have a 2.5 year old so it's hard to get any time to do stuff like this. I tried to upload the video onto this site but it won't work, so I created a YouTube video (below).

I am aware of the black smoke from the tail pipes when I rev it up - it's running rich and to make a long story short, my Bama tune needs some work (datalog) and I spent 2 hours on the phone with SCT today before they finally reformatted my device. Anyway, here's a really low quality video for you which was taken by my lovely wife

I can make a better video for you if you want but not sure when both me and my wife will be available to do it.
