Bama tune check engine light

I just install my jlt series 3 intake and I ran bama 87 tune until I ran out of gas and switched to my 93 race tune. Now check engine light came on for 3 codes. 2 misfires now. Prior before all this I had no codes on other then the no catalyst code.

You may have fouled plugs or a bad coil. Clear the codes and see whether or not the codes return.

Yeah, I cleared the codes and I sit at idle reving to 2k rpms and the check engine light start flashing and went off. No stored codes though. Haven't driven it yet though.

Contact Bama and ask them for a new tune. If they don't know what the problem is, you can datalog the car and send them the details for fine tuning.

Also, did you try to put the 87 octane tune back on to see if the tune is the problem and not something else? You can run an 87 octane tune with 93 octane gas, just not the other way around.

Didn't know that. I'll try out the 87 tune again. The first time I use the 87 tune was fine. I'll reflash it back tomorrow and see how it goes.

Based on what you're describing, your problem began after you did 2 things:

1. uploaded a new tune
2. added new gas

I would check the tune first, since (at least to me) that sounds like the most likely problem. The second thing I would check is your gas receipt to make sure you purchased 93 octane gas and not some other grade just to be sure - you would not be the first person to make that mistake.

Third, I guess, would be to believe that maybe you got a bad tank of gas? I have heard of that happening but I think it's a bit too coincidental to believe that's the problem right off the bat.

Haha, yeah it's 93 Octane for sure. Either bad gas or tune. Will find out tomorrow.

So I drove at least 25 miles on the 87 tune and no codes pop up. Emailed bama and they want to datalog the 93 tune to see the problem.

Awesome. That's happened to me once before, except different. For me, their system that is used to generate the tunes reads that my 2007 GT comes with 3.31 gears but mine actually came with the 3.55 gear setup from the factory. Once we figured this out, it was as easy as them just updating the gear ratio and I was good to go. Amazing how much the gear ratio screws up the way the car runs. Good luck with the tune!

I notice my spark advance was going up to 35 on 93 tune. Is that normal? Seems high.

Did they send you a tune with corrected ratios, or did they tell you where to change it? A wrong gear ratio setting should only affect your spedometer.

They sent a new tune. The wrong gear ratios were causing the idle to dip to about 500 rpms each time I took the car out of gear.
