Automatic Battery Disconnect

I'm installing an automatic/remote battery disconnect to avoid my battery being drained. Anyone else try this?
My battery has been dead every other day for the last 2 weeks. Getting sick of jumping it. Once it's started the battery is immediately fully charged. I know the stereo is the culprit but not ready to throw money at a new stereo, rather put the money into other mods that are planned.

If it's the stereo then just fix the stereo. Lot easier.

If you have an amp check that your remote wire isn't a constant and is turning off with the key or like it should be, with the stereo.

Worst case scenario... put a couple switches between the power and accessory power wires and have a disconnect for just it.

Test your theory by pulling the stereo and seeing if the car still dies.

When I first bought the car last Christmas, the battery completely died when i uploaded my tunes. While the battery was dead the head unit still kept blinking the Ford logo while the key was out of the ignition! Replaced the battery and alternator and it seemed fine for about 6 months.
From what I've read the stereo isn't fixable. The unit draws power while the car is off. I have a 10 minute commute each way and if I don't drive the car more than that the battery is dead in the morning.
If the disconnect works, problem will be solved. I just wanted a remote disconnect so i don't have to open the hood everytime!

But if you disconnect the battery every night you'll also be resetting the PCM every time. Not a very good practice as each startup the PCM is having to re-learn fuel trims, etc. It would be better to put power switches on the amp power and stereo power wires if you really want to isolate the stereo. (Just my 2 cents).

Update.....after using the automatic disconnect for several weeks, I decided to tackle the real problem/problems.
The disconnect actually worked very well, maybe too well. I never had a dead a battery the entire time it was installed. The only negative was that it was also shutting me down while sitting at a light or any time I stopped.
So, I have since installed a Powermaster 225 amp alternator, a new battery and a new JVC stereo.

Same happened to me, but it was the cd player trying to load 24/7...
pulled the fuse, & 0 issues since.
... i WAS going to order the Raxiom radio, but the reviews are all negative.

I just installed the JVC KW-R925BTS, paid about $175 including the install kit. Looks and sounds awesome! I lost the 6 disc changer and NAV, but gained Bluetooth and Android apps.

How does the JVC display look in daylight? I have the Pioneer FH-X820BS and the only thing I don't like about it is that in broad/direct daylight the display is totally unreadable. Yeah the fancy button lights and all the trim lights up real well, but the actual display, is barely readable reagardless of the brightness setting or display color.

My display on the JVC is way better than the Shaker. The shaker screen couldn't be seen at all with the top open. The JVC is very bright and I can see everything even in full sun with top open. I very rarely drive with the top closed so screen visibility was a major concern.
Overall i am very happy with it. And even though the sound is loud and powerful, it doesn't rattle the doors like the Shaker did.

Here is a picture of the new JVC unit. This is one of the brightest settings. This is in full sun with the top open while parked in the driveway.

Looks good. I'll take a shot or two of mine asap and post it up. Just so people can compare. But maybe I'll post it in a new thread, rather than hijack this one any further. Thanks.
