Opinions on this?

Polished ROUSHcharger® Kit

... I finally have money and I'm wanting to go with a supercharger. I have my eyes set on thats one up here. What do you guys think? Do i need to make certain modifications first before i drop it in? and does that one have the on off switch? I'd really like that addition...

Re: Opinions on this?

I've never heard anything particularly good or bad about the roush supercharger but it sure is an expensive one. Not that my Saleen is cheap but a lot of great shops like its twin screw design so that is good enough for me, lol.
You always need modification when adding power but how much power determines how many mods are required. I forget, do you already have better tires and LCA's. Those are definite. With only 3.5psi of boost (the minimum for my S/C), my kit came with upgraded 39lb fuel injectors.
With my "Stage 3" kit which is at home but yet to be installed. The car will be at 8psi boost and then it needs heat range 0 spark plugs along with a fuel booster pump. At more than 8-9 lbs of boost you will need to upgrade the entire fuel pump to be safe.

What switch are you talking about?

Re: Opinions on this?

the roush blowers are not the best out there for making power, ive seen a few dyno and wasnt very suprised by the results~ 8psi or so and about 360rwhp/tq on a manual~ I did see a saleen dyno that looked to have stock pulley and he put down right at 400rwhp

do some research to double check those numbers though~ just heard the roush blower isnt the best, what about a KB or whipple?

Re: Opinions on this?

Roush has never been the best option out there...the only time it would be the best is if you wanted to maintain your theme of a roush stage whatever car. But, then you're paying way more than you need to for a "not as good" blower...

I would recommend the 2.3L whipple over the roush...or even the Saleen. The whipple will be your most economical option.

Re: Opinions on this?

okay, i'll look at the whipple. i have great tires right now, in my opinion, though nitto's are next on tires to try list. I did need to replace the LCA's. i'll researcg the 2.3L Whipple and get back to you guys.

Re: Opinions on this?

Nittos won't hold the whipple power....they won't hold my eaton power as it is.

Now, if you stop around 400-420 at teh wheels, then they might hold somewhat, but anything more and you will just light them up at will.

Re: Opinions on this?

I's say either Nitto NT55R's or BF Goodrich G-Force T/A. Neither one are wonderful in wet weather but they hook nicely in good road conditions and wonderfully on the track.
Correct me if I am wrong

Re: Opinions on this?

Nittos are great in the wet until you wear the treads down. For about the first 5k or so, they are great....depending on the number of burnouts you do.

Re: Opinions on this?

roots and twin screw s/c are garbage. id recommend a centfrifical blower like vortech or procharger, or a turbo from hellion

Re: Opinions on this?

turbo from hellion = large amounts of money. If they are garbage why do top fuel, and funny cars run them.

Re: Opinions on this?

I'm amazed as well since the best supercharger on the market for the S197 Mustang is a twin screw. Wow

Re: Opinions on this?

wait!!!!

I've heard 2 different opinions on the nitto's. 1.) they won't be good enough and cant hold the power and 2.) they are awesome for the first 5k miles.
Which is accurate?

Re: Opinions on this?

Both. it depends on the type of Nitto the 555R will hold the power but they are only good for about 5000 miles and the other wont hold the power.

Re: Opinions on this?

The Nitto's will be perfectly fine for street use though. You just can't be dropping it at 5K but they'll hold up better than nearly everything else for normal driving.

Re: Opinions on this?

ok #1 he doesnt have a funny car engine. second i know two people one with a 98 cobra and the other with a 99 that switched out their twin screws for centrificals and put down better numbers on the dyno and said they perfer the way they make power over thier old twin screws. Twin screws lose power at high rpms simple as that. i know the SN95s arent the same as S197s but the facts about twin screws remain the same

Re: Opinions on this?

Did you look at my dyno chart that I posted when I first got my Saleen put on? Obviously not because then your argument would be nullified. Continual, perfectly even power increase steadily throughout the entire rpm range . . .

It's that way with whipples and the new KB's as well. Only the torque tends to come down slightly as the RPM's go up...the HP just seems to go up and up past 6k rpms.

Its not really you were told wrong that may apply for the SN95. But with the 3 valve motor it is something completely different.

Re: Opinions on this?

I would aim for around 400-425 some go 450-500 but IMO on the 3v 4.6 thats pushing it. The roush allows you to keep your warranty but thats about the ONLY reason I would consider it... a friend had one put on her car and it cost her 7500 bucks and she put down 310 rwhp

Re: Opinions on this?

For $7500, i would expect alot more than 310 rwhp. You could accomplish that with bolt ons. And spend alot less.

Re: Opinions on this?

You may want to look at this one Mustang GT Paxton Supercharger SL Satin Brenspeed Package (05-09), the kit has everything except the delete plates. They are also running a $250.00 off special until Dec 31. This is what I'm getting in a couple of weeks.
