Re: Car Problem, What do you guys think?

Found this

Tachometers
The tachometer is a sensitive instrument that functions based on input from the engine’s ignition system. The tachometer gets its power from the ignition switch (ignition on) and its input from the negative (distributor) side of the ignition coil. Tachometers are rarely serviceable because they tend to be factory sealed. Absence of function is most often caused by a disrupted connection between the ignition switch and the tachometer or between the ignition coil and tachometer.

Check your voltage limiter behind the instrument panel.

You think the voltage limiter may have gone bad? i've noticed it's all interior lights are dim. the radio lights, instrument panel lights, etc.

Man...if this ends up being a wiring issue you're in for a long haul. Bring the car and some beer and we'll start tracking lol.

At this point your best bet will be to just start troubleshooting.

Re: Car Problem, What do you guys think?

I just had this same sort of issue with the 92..

The lights were dim, my instrument cluster was effed up (tach was jumpy, voltage gauge read way low an temp gauge shot way up) and my turn signals wouldn't ... click... - they'd come on and just hang

Ended up being one of the grounds that runs from the battery to the fenderwell - once that was fixed the car ran perfect and the gauges work better and smoother than they have since I got the car 3 years ago..

- Couldn't hurt to start by checking the battery cables and basic grounds - if your alternator was charging poorly, your low voltage light would come on

Re: Car Problem, What do you guys think?

yeah, i've also noticed this over the weekend.... It's cold, and i like to let my car running for 10 minutes before I get in. After it sits for 10 minutes and warms up, the problem is non existant. If i just crank it and go, then i have the issue. Does this sound odd to anyone?

not sure? I bought it from a used dealership, i'm pretty sure the warranty is probably void by now though.

you should go to the dealer you bought it from. they are usally the ones that hold the warrenty. if its a second hand car then ask the guy you bought it from where he or she bought it from.
