Favorite Spark plugs??

I'm going to be changing my plugs sometime this week, and I was wondering what are the best plugs for the 4.6? I kind of wanted to try the pulse plugs, but I'm not paying $25 each. Thanks in advance.

I really like the NGK plugs, but I'm not sure if they have one for your car or not.

Re: Favorite Spark plugs??

I love the NGKs but they don't make them for a 3v right now. so all you have is the Autolights or Brisk

Re: Favorite Spark plugs??

The 3v head is a very bad design from a spark plug standpoint. The angle they go in at leaves a high probability for breaking the ceramic part of the plug, hence many of the major companies have chosen not to associate their names with spark plugs that break.

That's the reason you don't have much of a choice.

If your car is stock or a basic bolt-on car I'd recomment motorcraft or autolite (same plug).

Re: Favorite Spark plugs??

champion makes a one piece design plug now that won't break as easy. the part number is 7989. i know champion plugs aren't known for running great in fords but it might be worth a try. i think in 2008 ford went back to running normal looking plugs in these engines.

Autolite. All your paying for when you get the more expensive plugs is marketing.

Re: Favorite Spark plugs??

Thank yall for your input. It looks like i'll be going with autolite. What material are they made of and where can I get them. Oo and one other thing do they or do they not make NKG iridium's for the s197's there seems to be some conflict.

Re: Favorite Spark plugs??

be careful pulling them , they are prone to breaking once they get build up around the lower portion.Id pull them and inspect them every 20-30k miles, even though they are 100k mile plugs. It will help keep the build up to a minimum and reduce the likeliness of future problems removing them. Its a free and easy insurance policy

rockauto.com has the best prices on stock plugs. Go to their website and check before you buy.

Re: Favorite Spark plugs??

i prefer myself

but seriouslly. in dodge stuff i run champions but in the fords i'd stay with motorcraft, autolite, or the ngk's. when we used to race we always used the NGK's and autolite racing plugs and never had a problem.

Re: Favorite Spark plugs??

if you have no major mods or power adders the OEM ones that were in it will work great, no need to change and spend more on something that wont matter.
