Re: First mustang

first off welcome to the site. you some of the best bang for the buck upgrades to make the car faster. would be gears. auto=4:10s stick=3:73s and a tune. you can see 10-20hp from a custom tune, and the gears will make the car come alive.

Re: First mustang

welcome, for 300hp you will be looking at a power adder, and thus void your warranty. Thats your call though if you wish to go that route, costs will be 5k or so depending for a supercharger~

Cool Re: First mustang

Congrats on getting a Mustang!

1) it's not just "a V6" ... but, 245ci.
(the v8 is 281ci.)

2) Horsepower numbers are calculated differently now than in the 60-70's.

Todays 245ci 5 spd (auto slightly slower) ran 0-60 in 6.5 sec, 1/4 mile in 14.9 sec - both faster than most of the 60 -70's "Muscle Cars."

3) enjoy.

Vaya con Dios.

Yup, Im 22 and just got an 09' V6 for the same reason! Nothing wrong with a V6! The 4.0 V6 is quite snappy and has really impressed me! Its my first Mustang and I really love it. Fits me better to. My old car was an 88' Crown Vic. I'm a little guy and driving that car was like driving a house! It was a flying sofa! Had a 5.0L V8.

Re: First mustang

welcome :thumbs2:

your car has uber potiental for badassness. I can't believe the options that are out there for the 4.0's, its crazy.

As stated before, the quickest way to 300hp's is a power adder, but there's a lot of fun in between ~ exterior, interior, suspension, wheels...welcome to the addiction

First welcome to mustang evolution...
You can start by adding a
cold air intake
long tube headers
shorty midpipe
t-lock
short shifter
cam(s)
gears
a tune or (tuner)
etc...
Ahh.. never mind this is a fossil thread.

Re: First mustang

welcome and i think stick to what hotcobra said. gears and a tune. you wont be at your 300 range but you will feel what you have already more with gears.

after that your looking at a supercharger/turbo. but that will void the warrenty.

Re: First mustang

check around on insurance, unless you have a horrible record or your area is very high for insurance it shouldnt cost you much more than 100 a month for full coverage

Re: First mustang

Welcome. There is no, "hanging your head in shame"-for having a V-6. I would have done most anything-at your age-to have a nice ride like you have. Congratulations! Well done! There are small ways that you can personalize your car-get busy. But if you are looking for that much additional horsepower, you probably will have to install a power adder-and it will void the factory warranty. Walk it down S-L-O-W..

Re: First mustang

I feel you on the whole insurance thing. I had to get a 2004 V6 as my first Mustang for the same reason. They're not bad. Get a CAI system, it helps and it's very affordable. I loved my V6, it was badass. I whipped a few V8 cars with it.

I finally got my first GT a couple weeks ago. Be patient, you won't be 21 forever. And once you aren't, you'll wish you were.

Try using Car Insurance | Car Insurance Quotes | Online Car Insurance Rates to get some good insurance quotes. Fill in your information and an agent will call you. They'll run your info through several insurance companies and will find the lowest rate for you. They're pretty darn good. I used them and saved about $200.00.
