Windshield trim clips

Help! Have new windshield clips for my 1967 Mustang and they come in two sizes. Installed the short clips along the side and top, then when I started to put the long clips along the bottom, they would not fit, unless I put them on what appears to be backwards. I have installed the slot toward the interior of the car for the top and sides, but it appears that the has to face the front of the car for the bottom...is that right?? :
