Help me put a spare tire in a '72 Fastback.

When I got this Mustang it had the full size spare, "J" hook, jack and handle loose in the trunk. The Wing nut was all that was missing, I think. Can anyone tell me how the tire mounts in the trunk. For the life of me I can't figure it out.

Uncle has 71 fastback and if I remember correctly you ate supposed to deflate the tire down and then it should fit

That's what I'm saying. From the factory they came with a manual air pump that was also in the trunk. Now I was told this a while ago so I could be way off but I think that's how it came.

Just talked to uncle who has a 71 fastback. The tire indeed had to be deflated to fit in the trunk and came with "air in a can" so you would hook it up pull the plug and it would inflate the tire. That's how it came from the factory.
